romona Skincare

Through Be Nimble’s Add to Cart cohort program, I designed the logo and brand identity for a skincare brand focused on women with PCOS. The final identity blends a fun, retro aesthetic with a warm, approachable feel to help make the brand stand out and connect authentically with its audience.

CHALLENGE

Add to Cart is a cohort program offered by Be Nimble where I am responsible for the creative direction and branding for each local founder/entrepreneur selected to be in the program. One of the founders wanted to establish a skincare brand called Romona. Romona’s founder wanted a brand identity that stood out in comparison to her competitors in the skincare industry. Their product’s target audience  is specifically for women who struggle with PCOS. Brand identities (or lack thereof) for medical treatments are often sterile, text heavy, and can be a point of apprehension and intimidation.  This founder wanted her brand to be inviting and fun to properly educate women on treating their diagnosis  responsibly.

SOLUTION

To properly tackle this design challenge, I first needed to educate myself on PCOS, as I was unfamiliar with it. I prompted conversations with the founder and looked up articles and videos on the cause and treatment of the condition. Treatment looks different for every woman; however, it can be intimidating and complicated to take on. Because of this, the founder and I discussed how to create a friendly brand that’s approachable and fun for consumers. 

I decided on a retro-inspired design that brought warmth, personality, and confidence to the skincare space. The nostalgic style, paired with bold colors and playful typography, helped the brand stand out and allowed women to approach PCOS with a more positive outlook on treatment. 

The clamshell and pearl motifs in the brand symbolize inner beauty, resilience, and transformation. This highlights the transformation consumers experience when using Romona skincare.  

OUTCOMES

  • Successfully created a brand identity for Romona skincare, which helped  their social media presence  

  • Established branding for a 4-step skincare routine for women with PCOS

  • Inspired the art direction for the Romona product production and rollout strategy
